Angkor Hospital for Children
Every year Il Forno hosts a blowout charity dinner to raise money for their favorite organization in town, the Angkor Hospital for Children.
Angkor Hospital for Children (AHC) is a Non-profit pediatric teaching hospital that has been working in cooperation with the Cambodian government since 1999 to provide free, quality health care to impoverished children in and around Siem Reap, Cambodia. With ongoing support from donors based in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America, the hospital was able to open an Operating Theatre in 2002, and has been able to provide specialist heart surgery since 2008. The Satellite Clinic was opened in 2010 and most recently, in 2011, AHC marked their millionth outpatient treatment.
Independent Non-profit Foundation
Last year Angkor Hospital for Children became an international NGO incorporated in Hong Kong, the Unites States and Cambodia, with an international board of directors overseeing a largely Cambodian management team.
Supporting Health Care in Cambodia
Along with providing quality health care to children in Cambodia, AHC is a well-respected training site for local health care workers. In 2005 it was officially recognized as Cambodia’s leading pediatric teaching hospital. Today it serves as a training site for the World Health Organization’s Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses Program.
